Woman Ran Over While Asking For Help In Western Mass Hit-Run Crash: Police

A woman police believe was trying to flag down passing motorists to get help was hit by a car that kept driving afterward.

The crash happened Thursday, Nov. 16, just before 9 p.m. near Elm Street and Hanward Hill. Officers received a report of a woman in the road that had been hit by a vehicle, East Longmeadow police said. 

Investigators said her car had run out of gas, and she was trying to get help when she was struck. The car, believed to be a Mercedes, kept driving after the wreck, police said. The vehicle would have front-end damage near or on the grill. 

Paramedics rushed the woman to Baystate Medical Center. Police did not know the extent of her injuries Friday afternoon.
